  Lambda Zeta History

Preface

During the month of November 2000, Pi Kappa Alpha International Headquarters sent expansion consultants to Drexel University in search of Drexel’s best Scholars, Leaders, Athletes and Gentlemen. After sorting out hundreds of names recommended by coaches, sororities, and other resources, they narrowed the list of hundreds down to approximately 50 men. Once the colony was established, an executive board was chosen for the first 90 days until our first election was held. Amongst the elected included our first president, Clem Thomas, internal vice president, Dave Woodbury, External vice president, Brian Bizon, and Recruitment Chairman, Christopher Jennings. These men would be the originals and foundation of the Lambda Zeta chapter at Drexel University.

Starting the first week in January, the Pi Kappa Alpha International Headquarters held its Chapter President’s Conference and Rush Summit in Memphis Tennessee. Here, Clem Thomas and Christopher Jennings learned how to rush, lead, and win as an organization. In February, Jennings offered 12 men bids, in which 10 accepted. The success would only continue. They organized their first Founders Day event establishing themselves with alumni in the area and held an event with Phi Sigma Sigma, their first sorority mesh on campus. The colony would become dominant forces in community service and fundraising events. That dominance would later lead them through the IFC Sports scene; indeed Greek life and the IFC board saw that the PIKE colony would not be taken lightly.

The Lambda Zeta colony’s first official Rush season showed much promise. It was here where a rush class of 80 men attended and 26 bids were given and accepted. On November 10th 2001, the hard work in and out of the classroom, their respectable campus reputation, and their drive to become better would lead to a unanimous vote to become a chapter.......Drexel’s Pi Kappa Alpha, Lambda Zeta chapter
.

It's because of these extraordinary founders that the future will always be bright for the Lambda Zeta Chapter at Drexel University.

History:

2001

On November 10, 2001, the colony of Pi Kappa Alpha at Drexel University officially received their charter and became a full fledged chapter.  This was a day to enjoy the successes of the present, look back on the achievements of the past, and look forward to the potential of the future.  Few brothers at the time could believe that within five years of existence, the Lambda Zeta chapter would be recognized by the international fraternity as one of the top 6% three years in a row.  The founding fathers can officially state that they created a Legacy.
